Former Military Administrator of Kano state and Chairman Sani Bello Foundation ,Col. Sani Bello (retired), has said he feels fulfilled spending the money God has given him to better the lives of poor than lavishing same to throw parties for the high and mighty in the society.

Bello who clocked 81 years recently, said he feels better offering free medical services to people who are not able to pay medical bills for the different ailments coming from within and outside Niger state, adding that he intends to continue to put smiles on the faces of the poor for the remaining part of his life.

The former Military Administrator spoke at the commencement of the year, 2023 free surgical festival which took place at the Kontagora General Hospital, organised by the Sani Bello Foundation in collaboration with Graceland Health Development Foundation, Kaduna.

Reiterating his commitments to use his money to save lives than throw parties for the high and mighty, Bello told the gathering, including beneficiaries from within and outside Niger state, that he feels fulfilled whenever he sees the smiles on the faces of people with various illnesses that ordinarily cannot afford to pay medical bills being treated free of charge.

The retired Army Colonel therefore appealed to wealthy Nigerians and corporate organisations to channel their God given wealth towards helping the poor especially with the prevailing economic hardship which has compounded the problems of many homes.

Chairman Graceland Health Development Foundation, Kaduna, Dr. Tohot Dogo, in a remark, said the foundation, has, through the ten years of collaboration, successfully treated about 13, 000 patients including those that underwent major and minor surgeries such as cataract and were provided with glasses.

Also speaking, the Director General of Sani Bello Foundation, Mr. Zakari Ikani, said apart from free surgeries, the foundation donated an incubator to Kontagora General Hospital which contributed immensely to saving the lives of mothers and their babies.

Ailments to be treated during the five day festival for the beneficiaries coming from; Lagos Akwa Ibom, Imo, Sokoto and Kano states respectively, according to Zakari Ikani, includes; fibroids, appendicitis, lumps, hernia and goitre. NNL.
