By David Odama (In Nasarawa State)
The Nasarawa State government has come down hard on those it described as peddling falsehood in the state and challenged them to engage in constructive criticism rather than misleading the state and other Nigerians with their falsehood.
Speaking to Journalists against the backdrop of the allegation that governor Abdullahi Sule's administration was spending the state's resources on issues that will not impact on the citizens of the state, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Security, Engineer Moses Utondu, challenged the critics of the government to subject themselves to soul-searching and come to terms with what the government was doing with the state's resources.
"Let me make it abundantly clear that governor Abdullahi Sule or his cabinet members would not condone act of reckless spending or deny anyone or group access to the activities of the government", the SSA declared.
According to him, governor Abdullahi Sule's administration is open to criticisms, but was quick to challenge those finding faults with the government to tell the people what they have done when they had every opportunity either at the federal level or in the state to move Nasarawa forward.
"It is disheartening to see the desire, the zeal of the governor who meant well for the state being drawn back on the basis of baseless criticism. What did they do for the state when the had every opportunity to develop the state? Governor Abdullahi Sule will not be distracted by the enemies of the state", Utondu stated.
The SSA on Security also disclosed that the state administration was evolving measures that would end killings, banditry, and other criminal activities in some parts of the state, as proactive mechanisms have been introduce to make the state conducive for investors and investment to thrive.
"The business of the present government in Nasarawa state is to tackle the security threat inherited, develop the state, create jobs and educate the citizens of the state. The security challenges in Nasarawa state will soon be put to an end", Utondu assured.
While appealing to the people of the state to disregard comments from those he described as 'enemies of the state' and join hands with the government in power to bring development to the state and better their lives, Utondu said governor Sule is ready to transform and make Nasarawa state an investment destination.
