The National Directorate of Employment, (NDE), on Tuesday, commenced training of 30 unemployed graduates in Sokoto state on interlocking, flowering and plaster of Paris (POP).
Addressing participants at the Flag-off ceremony, the State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs Eunice Danmllam, said the 30 unemployed graduates will be trained on Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS).
Mrs DanMallam who appreciated the Director General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fipko and his management team for granting such laudable scheme, added that it is a continuation of the agency's statutory mandates of closing skills gaps, building competent workforce of technicians and artisans.
She also added that the scheme will help boost job creation as starter parks will be given to those trained to start their businesses to the end of the day.
"'The 30 participants are recruited across the 23 LGAs of the state to be trained for the period of 3 months skills sets such as interlocking, flowering and Plaster of Paris (POP) in which they will be given stipends of some thousand naira for the period of three months".
Mrs DanMallam further advised participants to be good ambassadors of NDE in their respective places of posting, in addition to ensuring compliance with workshop safety, rules and regulations as well as being punctual, obedient and committed to their chosen careers.
The State Co-ordinator of NDE, Mrs Eunice DanMallam also thanked governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for his continued support to the programme in the state.
Reacting to the opportunity given to them, one of the participants who gave his name as Ibrahim said, they will continue to remain grateful to the President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government for initiating such lofty ideas of reducing unemployment. NNL.
