Bauchi State has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive sports development as it prepares to participate in the third National Para Games in Abuja.
No fewer than 110 athletes will represent the state at the event holding at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium from March 26 to April 3.
Speaking during a farewell ceremony, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Babayo Adamu Gabarin, said the participation reflects the state’s dedication to empowering persons with disabilities through sports.
Represented by Abdullahi Ibrahim, he charged the athletes to be good ambassadors while assuring them of adequate welfare and incentives.
He added that gold medalists would be considered for employment, underscoring the government’s commitment to rewarding excellence.
The athletes will compete in various events, including Para Athletics, Judo, Table Tennis, and Swimming.
