Renowned international Islamic scholar, Professor Muhammad Sani Umar Rijiyar Lemu, has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, calling on citizens to intensify prayers for divine intervention.
The cleric stated that the constitutional responsibility of government to protect lives, property and the wellbeing of citizens is being severely tested by the activities of criminal elements operating across the country.
Professor Sani Umar spoke during the ongoing annual Ramadan Tafsir in Bauchi, where he observed that insecurity, particularly in Northern Nigeria, appears to be overwhelming the nation’s security architecture.
He urged the Muslim Ummah to utilise the holy month of Ramadan to pray fervently for Allah to bring an end to banditry and terrorism, noting that the menace has made life increasingly unbearable for many communities.
The scholar also sympathised with the Bauchi State Government and residents of Gwana District in Alkaleri Local Government Area over recent bandit attacks that displaced several residents to neighbouring Gombe State.
Citing verses from the Qur’an and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), he called on Nigerians to fear Allah and refrain from actions that violate the sanctity of human life. NNL.
