* Explains Why He Won Best Graduating Student

The best graduating student of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna for the 2019/2020 academic session, Enebe Simon Adinoyi with CGPA 4.88 First Class, has attributed the feat to his understanding and believing in himself and also, hardwork.

In an interview shortly after he was announced as the best overall graduating student by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Bala at the main campus of the university, Simon also said he refused to listen to the rumour and gossips that he cannot attain certain levels.

Enebe Simon who graduated with a, CGPA of 4.88 First Class from the Department of Quantity Survey, School of Environmental Technology (SET), said he was not scared by what he was told about FUT, Minna about the level of frustrations making it impossible for students not to get certain grade level by forces in the school.

“I did not allow the rumour I heard about FUT, Minna to scare me. I just understood myself and I believed that I can do it and that with God it is possible. I never allowed the rumour that was being speculated when I first came to the school in my first year to scare me”.

Recalling that he never stressed himself with distractions that often lead many students astray academically throughout his sojourn, Simon said, “It is not that I read everything but being someone that understand myself, I went for the right materials, got what I wanted handy and studied very hard”.

While encouraging undergraduate students on the need to be focused, believe in themselves and to be good ambassadors of their families and state, Adinoyi said he is dedicating his academic feat to all those who made his academic sojourn and coming out as the overall best students a reality.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari who is the visitor to the school said the federal government will continue to dialogue with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to ensure that academic activities in universities were not disrupted.

The President, represented by the Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, expressed the federal government’s plans to closely monitor what is going on in specialized tertiary institutions to ensure that they operating in accordance with the purpose for which they were established.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor FUT, Minna Professor Abdullahi Bala, said the university under him started, completed and commissioned 23 major projects, including the successful movement of some schools to its permanent site, Gidan-kwano from Bosso road campus.

Professor Bala who would be rounding up his five years tenure soon as Vice Chancellor of FUT Minna, in demonstration of how valuable students are in decisions, policies and programmes, said his management team also developed a, Students’ Support Services Policy (SSSP) to assist brilliant indigent students to complete their programmes.

NIGERIAN NEWSLEADER Correspondent reports that, a total of 5,049 graduands were awarded Degrees and Diplomas of the University, 58 of them made First Class Degrees while 948 others graduated with Second Class Upper Division. NNL.
