- * Says 'I've Seen Her Condition In My Dream'
Insists She Does Not Want Money From The Ekweremadus
As Ohaneze Youth Wing Writes UK Embassy Over Ekweremadu Saga
An Ilorin Kwara state-based young lady, who identified herself as Martha Uche, has indicated her willingness to donate one of her kidneys to save the life of the ailing daughter of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
The lady who spoke with a Nigerian online news portal, said she was willing to help Ekweremadu’s daughter stay alive. She said: “I want to help her, to donate one of my kidneys to her. I want to help her because I have already seen her (condition) and they have shown me in my dream.”
On whether she would donate her kidney to her free of charge, she replied: “I just need to help the girl first, because she needs help. Anything they (Ekweremadus) have, they can give, but for now, all my focus is on that girl.”
Reacting to a warning on the medical and health implications of engaging in such risky venture as organ donation, the young lady said: “Nothing will happen to me. It is already destined. I am very okay, I hardly (fall) sick. Since I was young, I rarely fall sick.”
However, responding to another question on whether she was willing to help other people in similar condition and not necessarily to the child of a privileged person, she said she only wanted to help the daughter of the former Senate president as her spirit directs her. “It’s only her I wish to help", she stated.
The London Metropolitan Police had charged Senator Ekweremadu and his wife, Dr Nwanneka, with alleged conspiracy to traffic a young boy, David Nwamini Ukpo, 21, to the UK in a claim to harvest his organs.
Ekweremadu was said to have been arrested by the Metropolitan Police on arrival in London on Thursday, June 23, 2022, and was arraigned in Uxbridge Magistrates Court together with wife, Dr Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu.
The lawmaker and his wife were denied bail and were remanded in custody until July 7, 2022, when the British court would hear their matter.
Meanwhile, as reactions and public empathy in Nigeria continue to trail the circumstances of the Ekweremadus , the youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, (OYC), has, again, waded into the raging controversy over the detention of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Nwanneka.
The OYC had earlier urged for caution and an end to the trial of the lawmaker by some persons in the social media, stating that it was too early to jump to regrettable conclusions without hearing from the side of the Ekweremadus over what actually transpired in the allegations against them.
The Ohaneze Youth body in an open letter to the UK Embassyin Nigeria on Sunday, pleaded with the British authorities that Senator Ekweremadu's wife, Dr Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, should, at least, be released from custody to enable her go and look after their ailing daughter, Silvia, whose kidney condition caused the unfortunate travails of her parents.
In the appeal letter to the British government through her Embassy, the Ohanaeze youths said it was now clear that the Ekweremadus did not involve themselves in any untoward deal but had followed an established process to save the life of their daughter.
The letter of appeal was signed by Ohanaeze Youths President-General, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike and the Secretary-General, Comrade Obinna Achionye.
“Following more emerging revelations in the case involving the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, both true son and daughter of Igboland, we find it expedient to make this open appeal to the UK Embassy in Nigeria.
“Contrary to earlier reports which flooded the media, it has become clear that the couple had no bad intention in mind. Having seen that they had no other intention than to save the life of their daughter, as nobody will sit by and watch their child die without making efforts, we deemed it necessary to make this appeal.
“We plead with the United Kingdom, through its Embassy here in Nigeria, to look into the implication of detaining the husband and the wife. We appeal for the release of one of them so that the person can take care of the sick child who needs medical help urgently,” the group wrote.
The Ohaneze Youths also slammed fifth columnists, who, they said, had gone to create a pseudo accounts with the name of the alleged victim of organ harvesting, David Nwamini Ukpo, for the purpose of achieving a selfish and pre-determined end.
The OYC said, “we observed that within the last 48 hours, no less than five fake Facebook accounts have been created with the profile of the alleged victim. This is no doubt the work of blackmailers as they have gone ahead to be making posts with the said unverified accounts. The posts contain spurious claims and allegations which are clearly the handiwork of political enemies, all aimed at bringing the Senator (Ekweremadu) down.
“It is a matter of time and the identify of those behind this shall be unveiled if they fail to desist from their evil antics. We urge the general public to discountenance those posts as the truth will surely prevail and Senator Ike Ekweremadu and the wife will come out of these allegations with their reputation unscathed.” (sources: daily post and legit.ng).
