- As EFCC Arrests 11 Suspected Online Scammers In Benin-City

Justice E. Enenche of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, Maitama, Abuja, has convicted and sentenced Moses Ogbu to one year imprisonment for criminal misappropriation of N14, 293, 000(Fourteen Million, Two Hundred And Ninety Three Thousand Naira).
He was jailed on Wednesday, September 7, 2002 after pleading guilty to one- count charge bordering on misappropriation of funds, upon his arraignment by the Abuja Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The charge reads ‘that you Moses Ogbu sometimes in 2021 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory dishonestly misappropriated the sum of N14, 293,000 (Fourteen Million Two Hundred And Ninety Three Thousand Naira), belonging to Cosmic Intelligence Labs and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 and punishable under Section 309 of the Penal Code, Cap 532 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (Abuja) 1990”
In view of his guilty plea, Justice Eneche sentenced him to one year imprisonment, with an option of fine of N150, 000 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).
Ogbu’s journey to the Correctional Centre began when he was arrested by operatives of the Abuja Zonal Command for misappropriating the sum of N14, 293,000 belonging to Cosmic Intelligence Labs. He was subsequently prosecuted and convicted.
In a related development, the Operatives of the EFCC, Benin Zonal Command, on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, arrested 11 suspected internet fraudsters.
They were arrested at their various hideouts in Benin City, Edo State, following actionable intelligence worked upon by the Commission.
The suspects are Okon Destiny, Efe Edomwonyi, Tony Osarobo, Moses Osazee, Ojo Festus, Christian Odiase and Bright Obaro. Others are Precious Aghedo, Harmony Enobakhare, Oluwafemi Adigun and Gift Inedegbor.
Items recovered from them at the point of arrest include various brands of mobile phones, laptops and four vehicles.
The suspects will be arraigned in court soon. NNL.
