The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa has charged staff of the Makurdi Zonal Office to uphold the Commission’s core values of professionalism, courage, and integrity in the discharge of their duties. He stated this on Thursday, July 15, 2021, while addressing the staff of the Zone in Makurdi, Benue State.

The EFCC chairman who was on a working visit to the Makurdi Zone, charged the staff to be disciplined as it was key to attaining the Commission's mandate, adding that, “you cannot be corrupt and fight corruption.”

He urged staff to uphold the ethics of the Commission, display professionalism and integrity at all times; and be proactive and strategic in their approach to the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes.

According to him, the Commission cannot rest on its oars as Nigerians and the international community is looking up to the Commission to rid the nation of corruption, economic and financial crimes which had stunted the country's development.

"Let me remind every one of us that we are doing a very special job, that the Government, the people of Nigeria, and the international community are looking up to us to have a better Nigeria, ”he said.

He charged the staff to shun corruption as the Commission will not tolerate such acts. “We will never tolerate any forms of corruption in this place; if you are a bad egg, you are free to leave, we will be happy to work with few people, and we are ready to dismiss and dismiss. If you think you cannot do what the laws of the land expect us to do, kindly resign and leave us alone", he declared.

Bawa further disclosed that the Commission will invest in human capacity development and staff training for it to achieve its mandate. He added that the Commission was working on several policies that will enhance the growth of the Commission.

“We are renovating, rehabilitating, and remodeling the EFCC Academy. This is for adequate staff training and retraining for improved efficiency and effectiveness in the discharge of our duties to achieve our goals and objectives”.

He commended the staff of the Makurdi office for the cleanliness and neatness of the environment. “This is among the cleanest offices I have seen so far, I commend you for this”, he said.

The Zonal Head, Oseni Kazeem thanked the Chairman for his visit and assured him of the support and loyalty of the staff. NNL.
