Major stakeholders in Adamawa State have vehemently opposed the establishment of State Police in the State.

The stakeholders in separate interviews conducted in the state, said the existence of a State Police in the country at this time would further complicate the current level of insecurity in Nigeria as the State Governors will misuse it and turn the personnel into their personal attack dogs against some of the perceived enemies.

Eminent Adamawa stakeholders who spoke on the matter includes Dr. Umar Ardo, who condemned the development and warned the Federal Government over the move. According to him, a State Police would be counter productive and would finally render the Federal Police ineffective, thereby breaking down all operations of the police.

Dr. Ardo, further warned that such would be too risky for the lives of the people who depends on the federal government Police across the State.

Also speaking Alhaji Musa Ibrahim Ibn MistaAli, said the idea of State Police will further worsen the already fragile security situation in Adamawa State. He urged the Federal Government to discard the idea immediately. "Those who are working for the establishment of a State Police will encounter herculean problems", he said.

Another stakeholder, Alhaji. Ibrahim, said the current police should be mobilized with more resources and manpower along with new vehicles to fight crime in Adamawa State. NNL.
