Imo State Commissioner for Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs, Dr Ugorji Okechukwu.Ugorji, at the weekend, hosted the year 2024 first meeting of the Exco of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party's Lorji Ward office in Aboh Mbaise.
The meeting which was said to be at the request of members of the APC Lorji Ward Exco, was chaired by the Ward Vice Chairman, Mr. Hilary Ohaja (in the absence of the Chairman). The attendees took stock of the achievements of the party in 2023, chief among which, was the recent victory of Governor Hope Uzodimma and the APC at Lorji and in the Mbaise Nation.
It was gathered that the party, at the meeting, unanimously passed a motion congratulating Governor Uzodimma on his re-election as governor.
On the tenure of Dr Ugorji as Commissioner, Mr. Ohaja said that the community is proud of his (Ugorji's) representation of Aboh Mbaise Local Governmeht Area in the first term cabinet of the governor. The party commended the Commissioner for his loyalty and service to the governor and the state.
"Your insistence on accountability and transparency at all levels has changed the politics of Aboh Mbaise," said Barrister Alexander Chijioke Ugorji, the Ward's Legal Adviser.
Speaking about Dr. Ugorji's service and leadership, the Financial Secretary, Hon. Magnus Emenogu, told the Commissioner that he must stay involved in politics. "You are a good and kind man; we want to continue learning from you; we want to continue riding on your coattails."
Mrs. Ngozi Agharanya, who serves as the Ward's Assistant Woman Leader, thanked Dr. Ugorji for she described as the resources and energy he brought to the party and to the Lorji communities.
In what resembled a valedictorian speech, Dr. Ugorji thanked Governor Uzodimma for the opportunity to serve him and the state as Commissioner.
He said: "There are now two segments of my professional career - the period before Hope Uzodimma and the period with Hope Uzodimma. I have never felt more professionally fulfilled than I feel now as a Commissioner in Uzodimma's cabinet".
Dr. Ugorji told his kinsmen that Governor Hope Uzodimma does not owe him anything in his second tenure, which starts with an inauguration on January 15, 2023.
"His Excellency will have a clean slate to choose his team for the second term. As a committed and loyal enthusiast of the governor, I will follow his lead and directives regarding what tomorrow portends," he said, to a standing ovation. NNL.
