A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State Dr. Hassan Halim, 1st Mai Barno of Dass has declared that the party cannot afford to govern the state for only a single term, stressing the need for continuity to ensure sustainable development.
The stalwart, who spoke in Bauchi, said an APC-led administration must prioritise long-term policies capable of addressing youth unemployment, poverty and insecurity.
He urged voters to support credible leadership in the next elections, insisting that only a visionary and energetic leader can transform Bauchi into a self-reliant state.
On insecurity, he described the situation in parts of Bauchi, particularly Alkaleri, as worrisome, urging residents to support security agencies with credible information and work closely with traditional institutions.
The APC stalwart further called on youths to shun political thuggery, drug abuse and idleness, and instead embrace education and entrepreneurship.
The APC chieftain disclosed plans to establish a foundation focused on youth education and entrepreneurship, aimed at equipping young people with skills for self-reliance.
According to him, Bauchi State possesses abundant mineral resources that can be harnessed to boost revenue generation and create jobs, if there is strong political will.
He also referenced the discovery of oil in Alkaleri, calling for federal approval to commence refining, including the use of modular refineries to improve the state’s economy.
He attributed the worsening socioeconomic conditions in parts of the country to poor leadership, lack of quality education and weak governance structures.
He emphasised the importance of supporting vulnerable groups, noting that charity and social responsibility are rooted in religious and moral obligations.
“We must continue to assist the needy without waiting for them to beg. What we give is from what God has provided for us, and it should reach the most vulnerable in society,” he said.
Dr. Hassan Halim, 1st Mai Barno of Dass, concluded by appealing to all APC members, especially those at the grassroots, to rally round Honourable Mansur Manu Soro, a governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to position the state as a business hub in the North-East region.
