The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced basic business training for beneficiaries of its environpreneurship development scheme in Jalingo, Taraba state.
The Director General of the NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, while addressing the trainees during the flag-off of the training in Jalingo, said the program was part of its numerous poverty eradication initiatives geared towards providing employment opportunities to better the lives of people in the society and reduce poverty in the land.
The NDE boss who was represented by Idris Dauda Mammod of the NDE national headquarters, said the 30 beneficiaries will be trained by the agency on how to turn waste products in the environment into useful and money-making ventures. He added that the 4 days of training is essential to expose the beneficiaries to basic knowledge of starting, financing and running business investments from the skills acquired to make them financially independent and in turn create job opportunities for others.
He asserts that " We are here to train you on how to use waste products and turn them into marketable means. So many people applied for this program, but only 30 people were selected based on merits. Our main objective is to bring you out from that moment when you wake up in the morning with nothing to do, and now we believe we have given you what to do", he said.
The NDE state Coordinator, Mr Danjuma Shehu, in his remarks, urged the trainees to be serious, stating that only the serious trainees may receive loans to further ahead.
He also added that the training would sensitise participants to the realities of the Nigerian labour market and encourage them to opt for the self-employment option as a career path among other objectives.
Blessing Bulus, one of the beneficiary in her thank-you message, applauded the NDE for the initiative and the effort of the Federal Government to lift Nigerians out of poverty. NNL.
