Obviously perplexed by happenings in Nigeria lately, the immediate past governor of Sokoto State and Senator Representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has declared that the country is not only in a comma, but now in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Tambuwal, who was the 2013 general elections Presidential Campaign Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), added that it has gotten to that point where journalists do not need to ask any newsmaker to know how things are worsening by the day in Nigeria.
The lawmaker, while making passionate appeal to journalists to help the country by being more objective and step up in their reportage, added that Nigeria needs the media now more than ever before.
''There is more than enough to talk about in Nigeria today. Let all of us, as Nigerians speaks to our humanity. The situation of this country has gotten to the top. Which one do you want to talk about? Is it insecurity, hunger, hardship or name it. And most amusingly, we now have leadership without compassion".
Tambuwal, who urged Nigerians to come together and salvage the country from the current trajectory of uncertainty, also stressed that, both the leaders and the led will give account of their deeds in the hearafter, hence the need to fear God in our dealings.
''Let us remember that we will all give accounts of our deeds here on earth. Therefore, let's come together to salvage the nation from the current path it has found itself. We all have the responsibility of ensuring that the country gets better for all of us"'.
Tambuwal, the PDP Senator, who is the Senate Committee chairman on Housing and Urban Development, went memory lane to recall how they founded All Progressive Congress (APC), test-runned it for 4 years before he saw the direction the party was heading and opted out for good.
He further disclosed that his leaving the APC despite being a founding member was a testament to the fact that the party was not on the track towards salvaging and bringing Nigeria to the path of prosperity. NNL
