Former Senate President and 2023 Presidential aspirant, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has congratulated the members of the new Zamfara State Executive Committee on the successful conclusion of their state Congress.
Anyim said the party deserves every commendation considering the fact that despite what appeared like an attempt by some forces to truncate the party congress, the Zamfara PDP still managed to wither the storm.
The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), in a statement on the New Year Eve by his Media Adviser, Sam Nwaobasi, expressed his elation at the quality of leaders that emerged as members of the Zamfara State Executive Committee.
Anyim stated that he was happy that the new Zamfara State PDP Chairman, Col. Bala Mande (rtd), a dependable and courageous leader, who has served Nigeria diligently as former military Administrator of Nasarawa State from August 1998 to May, 1999 and later as Hon. Minister of Environment from July, 2003 to June 2005, will bring his wealth of experience to bear on the running of the affairs of the Zamfara State Chapter of the PDP.
Senator Anyim said he is confident that with the caliber of leaders elected to serve in the Zamfara State PDP Exco with Col. Mande, PDP is surely on its way to recovering Zamfara State come 2023. He particularly commended what he described as the "rare courage and resilience" of PDP members in Zamfara State, who stood their grounds, endured untold intimidation, physical assault, suffered huge loss of personal property, including vehicles and vandalization of its State party headquarters, when hired thugs invaded the venue of the State congress and disrupted the proceedings.

Anyim however condemned, in strongest of terms, the "vicious and senseless inversion of the venue of Zamfara State PDP congress and the assault on innocent PDP members by thugs sponsored by individuals who use public resources and positions of authority to intimidate innocent law-abiding citizens", Anyim state..
He recalls, with regret, a similar action in Ebonyi State on the 29th of December, where hired thus and hoodlums invaded and disrupted a civic reception organized in honour of the Ebonyi State PDP Chairman, Mr. Ugochukwu Okorie, by his Okposi community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Anyim also condemned thuggery, violence, politics of hate and intolerance, the spate of which is beginning to rise as 2023 draws nearer.
He reminds perpetrators of violence and their sponsors that their actions and activities are making life more difficult for innocent citizens and as well, tarnishing the image of Nigeria in the global community.
Senator Anyim however urged the Col. Bala Mande led Zamfara State executive Committee to remain focused, bold, fearless and upright in the discharge of their duties. He also charged the Zamfara State PDP members, other PDP members all over the country and indeed all Nigerians, to remain hopeful that Nigeria will, again, return to the era of peace, good governance and respect for the rule of Law from May 29, 2023 by the grace of God and the collective will of Nigerians.
