- Promises To Give Viewers Value For Money

After over two years in business limbo due to operational shut down, Telecom Satellite Television (TStv) Africa, will finally return to full business activities with its official re-launch on Thursday October 1st.
According to TStv Managing Director, Dr. Bright Echefu, who spoke at a press conference on Tuesday held at the headquarters of the organisation, he disclosed that; “we now ready to roll out as we are ready for business as a major player in the industry”.
He also said that Nigerians deserve and should be made to enjoy television in a way that would give them value for their money. The TStv boss however explained that about 18 states would kick start and be accommodated in the launch on October 1, while the remaining states would be captured within ten days later.
Echefu stated that TStv vouchers will be available on the streets and can also be recharged with the use of telephone. He added that some of the channels which are pay per view would be as cheap as N5 per view just as viewers would have the opportunity to pause their channels in case they are travelling for some days or two weeks.
He further revealed that the period TStv was out of operation provided it with the opportunity to properly study the market in order to effectively position to serve Nigerians better and to give them value for a Naira they spend to watch its channels.
The TStv Managing Director also announced that TStv will be the first to go on pay per view, a development that would allow Nigerians pay for only what they watch and at a cheaper price.
“TStv is giving Nigerians the unique opportunity to select a bouquet and get a voucher for just what they want to watch. We Know how hostile the environment can be thus we are determined to give Nigerians quality for their money and time.
“Rolling out about 108 channels. We leased operating capacity that can keep us on air non-stop for five years. We are the first to operate a technology that non has operated before in Africa and I can assure you that getting more channels will be a smooth way through,” Dr. Echefu said.
He stated that TStv has invested heavily in acquiring Rights, adding that some of the major channels in other platforms will be in TStv, adding that Grand Sports channel will be free.
“TStv is doing a lot in the area of acquiring Rights in Sports and we will continue to expand the channels of choice for Nigerians.
The TStv MD specifically commended the Federal Government for standing by it to remain alive, saying that the organisation loves the reforms being carried out by the minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed towards liberating the sector.
Echefu also thanked the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for the support and encouragement it extended to the TStv. NNL.
