The Anambra State Police Command has reinforced its operational priorities and internal accountability framework following an emergency security briefing convened today, October 20, 2026, by the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama at the Command Headquarters, Awka.

The briefing, attended by Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Tactical Commanders, focused on the prevailing security situation in the State, operational readiness, supervisory responsibility and the need for sustained professionalism in the discharge of police duties.

Addressing the officers, CP Nnanna charged them to remain disciplined, accountable, vigilant and fully committed to their constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property. He stressed that every officer must demonstrate integrity, respect for the fundamental rights of citizens and a strong sense of responsibility in the execution of assigned duties.

The Commissioner made it clear that misconduct, abuse of authority, extortion and other forms of unprofessional behaviour would not be tolerated. He emphasised that command responsibility must translate into effective supervision, measurable operational performance and prompt action against identified lapses.

He further directed officers and tactical teams to strengthen intelligence-led policing, sustain operational alertness, improve response to distress calls and enhance collaboration with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders to prevent and combat crime across the State.

CP Nnanna also tasked supervisory officers with ensuring strict compliance with operational directives, proper monitoring of personnel and timely reporting of security developments within their respective areas of responsibility. He warned against complacency and underscored the importance of proactive policing, coordinated operations and effective leadership at every level of command.

The Commissioner, according to a statement by the Command's Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reaffirmed that the Command would continue to assess the performance and conduct of personnel across its formations, with a view to strengthening discipline, closing operational gaps and ensuring that policing services remain responsive to the security needs of residents.

While commending officers who have continued to demonstrate courage, dedication and professionalism, CP Nnanna urged all personnel to sustain their commitment and work collectively towards maintaining peace, public confidence and security throughout Anambra State. NNL.
