* As Federal Fire Service Records 22 Fire Incidents Between January And March This Year.

The Nasarawa State Commander of the Federal Fire Service Command, DCF Favour Garba, has warned residents of Nasarawa state against stockpiling petroleum products in their homes and business places to avert fire incidences in the state.
This is even as a four year old boy (names withheld ) set a residential home ablaze in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, with the use of cane gas.
The Federal Fire Commander gave the warning on in Lafia, the Nasarawa state Capital while Fielding questions from Journalists on the activities of the command in the state Tuesday..
According to DCF Garba, the command recorded over 22 fire outbreaks between January and march this year which were as a result of stockpiling petroleum products in their houses and business places.
Mrs Garba said a boy of three to four years was able to gain access to where a cane gas was kept probably because of the attitude of the occupants of the residential building along shinge road in Lafia.
"How can a boy of between 3-4 years gain access to a cane gas which is harder to operate than the big cylinder, use matches or whatever means to on the cane gas if not for maybe the carelessness of the people around the premises.
The commander who lamented the attitude of most of the residents to fire prevention, said the command has carried out sensitization campaigns to offices, schools, villages to educate the people on how to protect and prevent fire outbreaks in their homes and business areas.
According to Mrs Garba, lack of official office accommodation, utility vehicles and manpower were the factors militating against their effective operations in Nasarawa state.
While commending the state government for providing the command with temporary office accommodation, DCF Garba called on the residents to cooperate and assist the command to serve the state better. NNL.
