The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Bauchi State Office has embarked on the training for another set of fifty youths on vocational skills development (VSD) in Bauchi.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the NDE Director General, Nuhu Fikpo, said the orientation training is to equip the youths with the life skills knowledge to become employer's of Labour.
Fikpo who was represented by the state coordinator, Ali Lawal Yaha, explained that the participants will be engaged for three months through various skills acquisition training in areas of tailoring, carpentry, electrical installations and computer appreciation among others.
Lawal said the gesture was part of the Director General's effort who feels that the Nigerian youth especially the less privileged unemployed group among them, need to be assisted in respect of one's background, because NDE is the last hope for every unemployed person in the country to be employed.
He disclosed that the training is presently going on simultaneously in 12 states of the federation including Bauchi State where 50 youths would be trained on skills acquisition.
Earlier in his welcome addressed, the headquarters' director, VSD department, Isa Abdul who was also represented by Hassan Abdulkarim, urged the participants to avail themselves to learn more during the training.
He said "What the NDE is doing now is to make the youth to change their perceptions in life from being at the receiving end to being a giver through these process of Choice, Chance and Change (3C) as well as Commitment Character and Competency (3C) to make them employer's of Labour in their respective communities".
In a goodwill message, Royal Father, Turakin Sarkin Fulani Bauchi, Mahmud Sambo, lauded the NDE for the training, saying that "its time people start embracing handwork as against looking for government job in their lifetime careers".
He urged the participants to focus on the training and learn the job well in other to become self employed.
In their separate vote of thanks, Mubaraq Bala and Khaltume Ahmad, appreciated the NDE and the Federal Government for giving them the opportunity and promised to be good students. NNL.
