- * Advices President, Gov's To Invest On Citizens Not On Selves
By Princess Simon (Bureau Chief North Central, in Minna)
Resident Pastor, House of the Rock Church, Minna, Pastor PetRock Sadiq, has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not mind his policies in order not to provoke the hardship-stricken Nigerians to a mass revolt.
He called on the President, state governors and category of leaders in Nigeria who are in charge of the people's destiny to invest in the citizens who brought them to power rather than investing in themselves.
Pastor Sadiq however challenged Nigerian leaders to be patriotic in their words and actions by providing dividends of democracy to the people as quickly as possible so as to end the current hardship in the country. He said there will be no peacenin the country as long as majority of the Nigerian masses find it difficult to have at least a meal per day.
The Clergy man spoke to journalists shortly after the first Thanksgiving service for the year/Lands and Building development thanksgiving which took place at the church's permanent site, Minna.
Pastor Sadiq traced the numerous setbacks bedeviling the nation and her citizenry including; hunger, insecurity, corruption, joblessness to lack of patriotism on the part of those in leadership position whom he said are always in a hurry to accuse Nigerian youths of being lazy, unproductive minds and lacking in creative ideas while they (leaders) are the ones that have kept the country in its pitiable state.
Due to lack of patriotism, Pastor Sadiq said, "What we have in Nigeria of today is a situation or scenario whereby our leaders are no longer sleeping because the Nigerian masses are awake, hungry and angry".
Pastor Sadiq said it is unfortunate that the elected have abandoned those who elected them to represent the masses at all three tiers of government. This, according to him, have further widened the gap between those in leadership positions and those they claim to be leading or representing at all levels.
The Clergy man expressed sadness that it is only in Nigeria that, "Leaders increase their salaries and allowances without caring for that of the civil servants or to care for the wellbeing of the masses as they promised".
Lack of patriotism, Sadiq said has given rise to deep hatred for all those in leadership positions and politicians generally, warning that 'Nigerians are tired of leaders sitting in air-conditioned offices furnished with all imported furniture. "They sit in their offices and allocate bogous sums of money to themselves and families while leaving the poor masses to die of hunger and frustration.
"You have more than enough choice foods for you and your family; your salaries and allowance increase are going up every now and then. You drive choice cars, some go on bullet proofs, dress in imported choice wears without caring how the masses are faring and you expect them to be happy".
Worried by the increasing level of joblessness, the youthful Pastor said: "Nigerian youths have ideas, they know what is happening in Nigeria today, they know who is doing what or who did what, and I must tell you, they will react soonest if the government fails to do something urgently.
Pastor PetRock Sadiq however applauded Governor Bago for his developmental initiatives which he said is not just giving Minna, the state capital a new look but aimed at attracting local and foreign investors. NNL.
