A yet to be apprehended terrorist also identified as gunmen, on midnight of Wednesday midnight May 25th, 2022, broke into the Rectory of St Patrick Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State and kidnapped 2 of the Reverend Fathers as well as two other boys from the house.
The terrorists are yet to make any demand or communicate to the Catholic Diocese at the time of filing this report.
A statement by Father Chris Omotosho, the Sokoto Catholic Diocesan Director of Social Communications, however, urged the public to pray for their safety and return.
Reverend Father Omotosho's statement read, "As at midnight of today, 25th May 2022, gunmen broke into the rectory of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, Kafur LGA of Katsina State. The parish priest and his assistant Rev. Frs. Stephen Ojapa, MSP, Oliver Okpara, and 2 other boys in the house were kidnapped. No information as to their whereabouts. Kindly pray for their safety and release".
It will be recalled that only a few months ago, some priests of the Catholic Church in the same Katsina State were kidnapped as well. NNL.
