The Gombe State Executive Council has approved a N1 billion monthly contribution to the Regional Security Trust Fund of the Northern States Governors’ Forum as part of efforts to strengthen regional security architecture.
The decision was taken at the Council’s 52nd meeting chaired by Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.
Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Muhammad Gambo Magaji, said the state also approved N500 million as its contribution towards the construction of the forum’s permanent secretariat.
In a major economic boost, Council approved N56 billion for the development of a 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Development Zone.
The facility is expected to host an ultramodern abattoir, international livestock and grains markets, an inland dry port and a leather processing factory.
Additionally, N18.5 billion was approved for a 19.9km road project linking several communities in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area, while N5 billion was earmarked for comprehensive road and street naming and house numbering within Gombe capital.
The approvals underscore the administration’s focus on security enhancement, economic diversification and infrastructure expansion. NNL.
